G8 Education welcomes the unanimous commitment by Australia\u2019s states and territories to establish a national register of Working With Children Checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pejman Okhovat, CEO and Managing Director of G8 Education, welcomed the communique from Attorney-General Michelle Rowland and the Standing Council of Attorneys-General prioritising children’s safety and taking decisive and urgent action to strengthen protections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe welcome the proposed changes, including real-time sharing of criminal histories between jurisdictions and tougher eligibility criteria, that will help ensure individuals who don\u2019t hold working with children credentials in one state or territory are banned nationwide,\u201d said Mr Okhovat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cG8 Education has strongly advocated for this vital reform, and we welcome the opportunity to work with the Federal Government and governments across Australia to support its implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
