At G8 Education, the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority. It is a responsibility shared by every member of the G8 team, and one that sits at the heart of everything that we do.
We are appalled by what is alleged to have occurred. These allegations are deeply distressing, and our hearts go out to the children and families involved. Our focus right now is on supporting all those impacted including children and their families, as well as our team members. Families are being supported with confidential counselling and support through G8 Education’s dedicated provider.
We are aware that an educator who worked across 20 childcare centres in Victoria over eight years from 2017 to 2025 has been charged with offences involving children. One of these centres is our Creative Garden Point Cook centre. Parents of the children involved have been informed by the Police and the Victorian Government and our hearts break for those families.
The dates the accused worked for G8 Education are:
- Creative Garden Point Cook – 28 October 2021 to 2 February 2024
- Leopold World of Learning – 9 February 2023 to 13 February 2023
- Greenwood Point Cook – 14 February 2023 to 17 February 2023, and 10 March 2023
- Little Blossoms Child Care Centre Werribee – 14 August 2023 to 17 August 2023
We want to reassure our G8 families that Child Safe Standards, including child safety and wellbeing, are embedded into our leadership, governance and culture. Steps we take to protect the children in our care include:
- delivering thorough and ongoing education and training with our centre teams, including in respect of Child Safety and Child Safeguarding;
- ensuring that our physical and online environments promote child safety and wellbeing;
- ensuring that all required team member reference and background checks are performed, including ensuring that valid Working with Children Checks (WWCC) are in place during employment; and
- prohibiting personal devices in rooms in our centres.
As we learn more about what is unfolding, we are fully cooperating with Victorian Police, the Victorian Government and other relevant authorities as part of the investigation. We are committed to supporting the legal process in every way we can.
G8 Education has no tolerance for any behaviour that compromises the safety or wellbeing of children and welcomes and supports Government decisions that improve safety for children.
