G8 Education has welcomed the call from the Federal Government, for increased national consistency and action to improve safety and quality in the early learning and care sector.
G8 Education Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Pejman Okhovat welcomed the joint announcement by Minister Aly and Minister Rishworth that called for action to improve safety and quality in the early learning and care.
“We take child protection and safeguarding extremely seriously, demonstrated and underpinned by our robust National Child Protection and Safeguarding Framework and Policy. We support measures that are aimed at improving quality and increasing safety for children and educators in our sector,” said Mr Okhovat.
“We firmly believe that investing in training and development for our team members, team retention and prioritising strong partnerships with families are the strongest predictors of consistency in compliance and safety, particularly in critical front-line leadership roles. We want to acknowledge our early childhood teachers and educators who give their all every day.”
“Our focus on and investment in our team has resulted in 93 per cent of our centres currently “Meeting” or “Exceeding” the independently assessed National Quality Standards. This result is 2 per cent above the sector average reflecting our commitment to providing safe, nurturing, and enriching environments for the children in our care.”
“We look forward to the opportunity to work with governments and sector colleagues to consult on these changes proposed that will support the sector to enhance how it supports and protects children and empowers the next generation of Australians through ongoing education and development.”
